Our primary form of communication throughout the scholarship application process will be through email to your personal email account (be sure to use a personal email address that you will have access to at all times, even after graduation or transfer). Adding this address to your email address book will ensure that our messages reach you.

Apply for admission

In order to apply for academic scholarships at the University of Arkansas, you must apply for admission (students do not have to be admitted to begin scholarship application). Students should submit their admissions application by October 1 to be considered for the October 15 spring semester deadline, and by March 15 to be considered for the April 1 fall semester deadline.

Submit official copies of all college transcripts

Official transcripts should be mailed or sent via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to the Office of Admissions, 232 Silas Hunt Hall, 1 University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR 72701 by the deadline date.

Check your New Student Center

About 48 hours after submitting your application for admission, you will be able to access your personalized scholarship application by logging into your New Student Center. You will copy and paste, or upload, your required supplemental materials into the application (list of accomplishments and honors, essay, and name of recommender). See below for more details.

Prepare supplemental scholarship application materials in your word processing software.

  • ACTIVITIES & AWARDS: Prepare a list of your most important activities and academic awards/honors.
  • ESSAY: Prepare your essay. The essay prompts below are designed to allow you to share more about yourself. We want a glimpse of what matters to you. And remember, the application essay is an opportunity for you to move beyond test scores and grades. Avoid platitudes and checklists of accomplishments and activities. The more specific you can be about your personal experience, the better! Write a well-developed essay (maximum length of 600 words) responding to one of the following:
    • Identify an invention or idea that was developed more than 100 years ago that still has a major effect on the way we live today. How has this technology or idea affected your life?

    • Identify an artist or innovator in the world today who inspires you. Tell us why.

    • What does community service mean to you? How do you envision yourself serving in the future?

  • RECOMMENDATION: Contact a professor regarding writing a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Your recommender will receive an email to a personalized website where he/she can copy and paste the recommendation letter. The recommendation letter must be submitted by the deadline date.

Copy and paste or upload supplemental materials into the personalized scholarship application

Once you have completed the application and have proofread multiple times, click the submit button. You will not be able to make changes once the form has been submitted. You will receive an email the following day confirming receipt of your application.
