American Anthropological Association

AAA Minority Dissertation Fellowship

Amount: $10,000, one time

Eligibility Criteria:An applicant must be:

  • a US citizen;
  • a member of an historically underrepresented ethnic minority group, including, but not limited to: African Americans, Alaskan Natives, American Indians or Native Americans, Asian Americans, Latino/as, Chicano/as, and Pacific Islanders;
  • enrolled in a full-time academic program leading to a doctoral degree in anthropology at the time of application;
  • admitted to degree candidacy before the dissertation fellowship is awarded;
  • a member of the American Anthropological Association. The dissertation proposal must be approved by the applicant's committee prior to application. Students of any subfield or specialty in anthropology will receive equal consideration.

ACS Scholars Program

Amount: up to $3,000

Eligibility Criteria:

  • African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian;
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.;
  • full-time student at an accredited college, university, or community college;
  • high academic achievers in chemistry or science (Grade Point Average 3.0, "B" or better);
  • able to demonstrate evidence of financial need according to FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the Student Aid Report (SAR) form;
  • a graduating high school senior, college freshman, sophomore or junior intending to or already majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a chemically-related science and planning a career in the chemical sciences or chemical technology;
  • Please note that students intending to enter Pre-Med programs or pursing a degree in Pharmacy are not eligible for this scholarship.

  • The scholarship award is available to both undergraduates and graduates ·
  • Undergraduate applicants must be Junior standing or above
  • Undergraduate students must be studying in metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, material science or engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, or environmental engineering

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be either a resident of Arkansas who will be attending an in-state or out-of-state postsecondary education institution or an out-of-state student attending a postsecondary education institution in Arkansas. Postsecondary education institution refers to a 2 or 4 year university, college, technical or trade school.

Amount: up to $24,000 over 2 years

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national.
  • Be a teacher, or plan to become a teacher, of American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary school level (grades 7-12).
  • Possess a bachelor's degree or plan to receive a bachelor's degree no later than August 31 of the year in which you are applying.
  • Wait at least three years from the time that any previous graduate degree was awarded before applying for a James Madison Fellowship.
  • After earning a master's degree, each James Madison Fellow must teach American history, American government, or social studies in grades 7-12 for no less than one year for each full academic year of study under the fellowship.
